Grafting from a selected colony in the Teaching Apiary to raise new queens. A keen eye and a steady hand are needed for this delicate operation. Six grafts were taken on a frame of ten and four grafts from a frame of five. Well done Kathy.

First inspection of the season & Alan Baxter was surprised by a rat that jumped out! It had removed the entrance reducer and made quite a mess inside the hive. Fortunately the bees were a strong colony and had remained in the hive.

An excellent talk by Master Beekeeper, Christine Coulsting, on how to become a better beekeeper.
JANUARY

Welcome to the members of our 2025 beginners course under the watchful eyes of Greg and his team of instructors.

Great work by Kathy, Tim, Pete & Alan moving newly acquired Association apiary equipment to its temporary home. There’s even a colony of bees in one of the hives. Much refurbishing work to be done but its a great start to our exciting project. Many thanks to ex-members David & Rona.
