Fareham & District Beekeepers’ Association

We are an enthusiastic group of beekeepers numbering over 100 Registered, Country, Associate and Junior members and now in our 106th year. We are affiliated to Hampshire Beekeepers’ Association (HBA) and the British Beekeepers Association (BBKA).
During May-August we have apiary meetings at different locations and hold our indoor meetings September-April at Catisfield Memorial Hall, 22 Catisfield Lane, Fareham, Hampshire, PO15 5NN. We invite guest speakers on bee related topics to many of our indoor meetings.
We hold an annual Bees & Honey weekend at Manor Farm, Bursledon, every July which is a fantastic weekend for us and the general public. Our members support fayres around the Fareham area selling local honey, honeybee related products and also demonstrating a live honeybee colony in an enclosed Observation Hive.
We openly welcome and encourage ‘newcomers’ to join us. Our beginners course commences every January with the theory classes at Titchfield Community Centre, PO14 4AB. Follow up practical sessions are done at a members apiary within Manor Farm.
Our Education Officer has set up his own teaching apiary between Titchfield & Stubbington where a range of sessions are held throughout the summer months for all levels of experience.
We are more than happy for members of the public who may have a fear of bees, or people who really would like to know a little more about bees and beekeeping, to attend one of our teaching sessions. We will of course loan you a bee suit and gloves. If you wish to know more please email us or look at the Membership page. Please also visit the Education and Teaching Apiary pages if you are interested in taking up beekeeping.
An Informal Mentoring Programme is in place for those who would like the support of one of our more experienced beekeepers.
The association has its own apiary site on council owned land at Titchfield, Fareham where up to 10 members can site their bees.
